John 14 (pt 7)

Speaking as someone who is frequently troubled,

And knows the chill of fear as she stirs the butterflies in my chest,

I have to say that I long for these words to be writ large on the surface of my soul.

I read of heroes present and past,

Who showed bold defiance in the face of abject terror,

And marvel at their ability to embrace the truth of peace offered.

And, sometimes, I catch a glimpse of the deeper reality:

That beyond this pale slither of time, and above and within,

There is one who holds me, and looks with pride.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” [John 14:27]
