John 16 (pt 8)

The confident statement of those who remain ignorant,

We understand what you are saying“…

We grasp tightly onto threads of incomplete clarity,

And weave them into chords with which we beat our brothers,

We compose the end of the paragraph,

Without appropriate reference to the author’s intentions.

We believe that He comes from God, but we still see only in part:

Yet to embrace that He is God, and that we are loved and accepted.

The promise of peace, the surety of tougher times,

They remain always,

But the weariness in our souls, the disquiet of our hearts, the fear in our bones,

Need never be again alone,

“Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.” “Do you now believe?” Jesus replied. “A time is coming and in fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” [John 16:29-33]
